Our Partnership with Mountain City Public Montessori
We are pleased to operate in partnership with Mountain City Public Montessori, WNC's only public Montessori school. MCPM serves children Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
Montessori schools educate children in multi-age classrooms according to their planes of development. Early education classrooms serve children ages 3 - 6, and are often referred to as the Children's House or Primary classrooms. Since public charter schools are prohibited from offering preschool, Little Grove will operate our preschool on their campus, allowing for complete Primary classrooms that span this full age group. Little Grove Preschool students learn in combined Primary classrooms with MCPM Kindergarteners, offering children a rich and diverse community in which to learn and grow.
Teachers in these classrooms are experienced Montessori educators, and our schools' partnership allows us to provide them with competitive wages, benefits, and ongoing professional development so that we can appropriately value their work while enhancing the quality of care we provide to children. Our teachers are supported by a team of school directors and a Montessori Coach.
Students enrolled at Little Grove Preschool attend a 4 hour school day and leave after lunch, while Kindergarten students enrolled at MCPM stay for the full school day.
Little Grove Preschool is an independently owned school. While we share a campus with Mountain City Public Montessori, our schools are separate businesses. Little Grove students will not be automatically enrolled at Mountain City Public Montessori for Kindergarten, and families interested in enrolling at MCPM will need to apply via their annual enrollment lottery. Little Grove students will not receive any preference in the MCPM enrollment lottery, in accordance with NC state law.
